Synod 2021 – 2023

In October of 2021, the Synod on Synodality was announced to begin at the diocesan level. This synod, covering 3 distinct phases in time, would involve listening at local, diocesan, national and international levels with a final document to be produced by the Vatican in 2023 after a gathering of bishops.

After much preparation and training, St. Joseph’s parish is ready to officially begin our listening phase. We will be hosting 4 listening sessions that are open to all parishioners and residents of Grimsby. The purpose of these listening sessions is to hear from those who participate as well as not participate to fully understand the central theme of journeying together and how the Church can better journey with people.

In each of the listening sessions, all participants will have the opportunity to have their voices heard and answer the question(s) specific to that session. The questions being asked are coming directly from the Diocese of St. Catharines as handed on from the Vatican so that there can be consistency in the report that will be sent onto the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).

If you are interested in participating, here is the information for the listening sessions we will be hosting. Each of the sessions will be 90 minutes in length except for the Saturday which will be a single 3 hour session. When you sign up, you will be signing up for all the sessions associated with your group.
